What are we?

Under the goal "Science for Society, Innovation for Prosperity," the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) has given consistency to the nation's strategy for localizing the notion of Food Green City (FGC).

By cooperating with Mahalaxmi Municipality to build it as a Food Green City, NAST has begun to promote urban agriculture through policy intervention and subsidies. NAST has also aided in the creation of a research report that localized the concept of FGC utilizing Mahalaxmi Municipality as an instance. It has also subsidized urban agriculture projects including as community-based Chamomile farming in Khokana, Lalitpur, and holy basil or Tulsi farming in Pokhara-33, Kaski.

To implement the FGC notion, NAST has inked Memorandum of Understanding with 16 municipalities around Nepal. UNDP helped create an online platform to gather, archive, and publicize information on all topics connected to urban produce, urban agriculture, building greener cities, managing expert rosters, and keeping inventories of green services in order to better operationalize this concept.
